So y’all know I ran the turkey trot on Thursday – my chip time was 32:10 – about a 10:20 mile. I was 870th out of 1760 runners, and 238/420ish in my age bracket. Not too shabby considering I’ve ran once since the Hartford Marathon and haven’t been going to the gym as regularly as I should be. I have about another month of “kind of slacking” – though not really since M and I are doing the Jingle All the Way 10k in about two weeks! In January, after the Inaugural I’ll start ramping up for the GW Parkway 10miler, the Cooper River 10k (both in April) and the VT City Marathon in May. I plan on peaking this year between 20-23 miles instead of the 18 i did for Hartford. My goal is to hit sub 5 hours – not sure how realistic that is but i figure i train for 4 months, train as hard as I did for hartford and hopefully I can knock another hour off my time.
My friend M who ran with me (in the picture) was 2nd for overall women, first in the her age bracket. She finished in 18:38 – a 6:00 mile! This is also a girl who ran XC in college – so she’s pretty hard core. She does more speed workouts/intervals/track workouts than longer runs so I’m not surprised she kicked ass 🙂
I’ll announce the winner of the contest for those of you who donated to the race, seriously I can not thank you all enough, you all are so awesome 🙂 Hope you all are having an excellent long weekend, this weekend has been incredibly refreshing, and relaxing. Today we have a birthday party to go to tonight after we rendezvous up to Georgetown, tomorrow we’re going to work on our Save the Dates (finally!) and pop over to a potluck at Church that Fiance is making an apple pie for.
