Currently | September

Happy Wednesday and happy September my friends! Given the first Wednesday of the month, I thought I would join back in for the Currently Linkup with Anne!

Starting: School! Ethan starts Kindergarten on MONDAY! I’m both excited for him and subsequently terrified of little man growing up too fast. How is he five already? How is it already so close to my first ever PTA meeting? I have many feelings on this.

Buying: Ahhhh back-to-school shopping. I’ve done some shopping for some clothes for Little man, and a couple of things for myself in the way of new jeans (my first ever distressed pair! In a size down from what I’ve been buying!) , a top that I kept seeing on Instagram and was finally back in my size, a new workout top that is a new favorite, and some replacement sneakers because mine were half a size too big and I got tired of my feet slipping out during mountain climbers haha (and I found them at a FANTASTIC price – $35 sneakers? yes, please!)

Sharing: All of the experiences with Little Man’s encopresis on my Instagram stories and my own battle with anxiety (mostly work induced but has certainly seeped into other areas of my life). I’ve gotten so much support from friends and family and I can’t even begin to thank everyone for their comments and words of encouragement.

Reading: Lately? The High Season, which is moving so slow. But it’s a library book, I’ve gone well over my two weeks (thanks Airplane mode on my kindle!), so it might be time for something new. I think. Maybe.

Recording: My training plans for Ragnar DC, the Army Ten-Miler and for the upcoming Run Club in my bullet journal. One of these days, I’ll share more about my journaling. I’m a huge fan and while I’m not super artistic, it keeps me so organized and on track with so many things.

What’s up with you currently???

Currently | March

If there’s one link-up I’m unlikely to miss, it’s the Currently Linkup with Anne where the first Wednesday of each month, we share what’s currently going on in our lives.

This month we’re sharing…

planning | Little man’s fifth birthday!!! We’re keeping it low key since last year we did Disney, but we’re going to have a fun birthday weekend with my in-laws, and we’ll send in cupcakes and pizza for his class on his birthday and a playdate the weekend before I think.

seeing | all of the specialists for little man. I haven’t talked much about our journey through IEP’s, etc.. for his sensory issues, but over the past two months we’ve had an ASD evaluation (not diagnosed), a feeding therapy evaluation which led to a possible tongue tie diagnosis (following up with the ENT), a behavioral therapist evaluation later this month, our annual IEP meeting, and of course our regularly scheduled speech and occupational therapy visits each week. I’ll dive into this in a video blog one of these days but I’ve tried to keep him off my blog for the most part but these appointments, while helpful, have all been taxing on all of us I think.

making | appointments to pretty myself up before I start a new job next week! I have ONE day between gigs – my new job starts Friday the 16th, I’ll be getting a mani/pedi and an eyebrow wax at the very least.

pretending | I have plenty of $$ to shop for new spring clothes. I don’t. So a lot of stuff has been living in my Target, Nordstrom and Old Navy cart lately. SOON MY LOVES. SOON. Want ALL the spring garb in my closet right MEOW!

wearing | winter-y favorites. My favorite Tippi sweater, my favorite vest, this ruffle-y Loft Sweatshirt/sweater that’s a favorite and my new favorite bell sleeve top have all been on repeat lately.

Currently | February

Happy February friends! It’s the first Wednesday of the month which means it’s time for to share what I’m currently up to!

finishing | Setting up and launching my new video podcast, you’ll see a preview of it later this week/early next week and then I’ll be setting up my first couple of guest hosts. It’s going to revolve around issues surrounding working parents, work-life balance, and other issues that affect moms (mental health, self-care, fitness, home life, gripes, etc…) I’m really excited about all this and more excited to share it with you all 🙂 Similarly, if you’re interested in being a guest, let me know via comment or email!

subscribing | to She Podcasts. I’m launching a video podcast later this month, and I’m soaking up all the knowledge, so I’m super jazzed to dive into this one.

wishlisting | All the Target shoes. Seriously. I’m sharing my top 5 picks later this week so be on the lookout. I’m also lusting for some new workout gear – specifically these sweatshirts, these crops, and these two tank tops. I’m waiting until I see Gap’s next big sale, but those are a big part of my wishlist right meow.

watching | I’ve been LOVING Marvelous Mrs. Maisel on Amazon Prime which is the “binge-worthy” show we’ve been into. Though I haven’t watched anything since This is Us after the Super Bowl. Time to play catch up!

hearting | Fit4Mom Severn. I became an ambassador this week and I can not go on about how much i big fat puffy heart this community and my Body Back classes. So yeah, hearting the Fit4Mom community biggggg time.

As always, I’m linking up with Anne In Residence so be sure to pop over to see all the other fantastic bloggers participating!

Happy new year friends! After the hustle and bustle of the holidays, I’m trying to get back into life. Being that it’s the first Wednesday, I’m jumping onto the Currently wagon yet again 🙂 Join Anne and her co-host the first Wednesday of every month to share what’s currently going on in YOUR life 🙂

STARTING | Bullet journaling! I’ve wanted to get into this for a while, but I finally made the plunge and not gonna lie, I’m a huge fan. We’ll see if I can keep it up but I’m a big list maker so I think this is going to be good for me.

HOPING | to make this a great year in all aspects – getting finances back in order, getting myself a promotion, taking my blog to greatness, getting in shape…also known as kicking butt and taking names.

SCHEDULING | A trip up north to take Hubs cross-country skiing in February. It’ll be a nice little get-away, we’re going to stay at my dad’s and do 2 days in Vermont I think to hit up some trails. I’m super excited since it’s been SO long since I’ve been nordic skiing but man, do I miss it!

READING | Currently reading My (Not so) Perfect Life by Sophia Kinsella (delightfully chick lit-y) and about to start Better Than Before by Gretchen Rubin.

PLAYING | HQ Trivia. If you’re not playing yet, you should be (use code LEGALLYHEIDI to join!) It’s twice per day – 3 pm EST and 9 pm EST. 12 questions, with chances to win real $$$ (new years eve they had a prize of $18,000! Most days it’s between $1k-2K.)

Currently | November

How, how, how is it ALREADY November? Time apparently flies when you’re having fun. Although not going to lie, October was a doozy so I’m glad we’re moving on. Moving on to the first Wednesday of the month means it’s time for the Currently Linkup with Anne and her co-host! Time to share what’s currently going on in our lives 🙂

Realizing | The holidays are SNEAKING UP wayyyy too soon. Time to start planning our holiday shopping list so I’m not frantic in the last two weeks before Christmas as I often am. Seriously, where does the time go! Before you know it, I’ll be registering Little Man for kindergarten (cue all the tears!).

Stirring | My SToK Coffee with Almond Milk Caramel Creamer. This has become my FAVORITE caffeinated beverage and I LOVE that this caramel creamer is made of almond milk and not cream. It’s helped me cut back from my Dunkins Habit and is…pretty likely that’s much lower in sugar than the Dunkin’s Caramel swirl… Likely.

Appreciating | My village. October was a rough month, especially on the tail end. My Body Back mama pals and coaches were fantastic at lifting me up during my workouts when I just, quite honestly, wasn’t feeling it. You never, ever regret a workout, but you do regret the one you didn’t do. Also hubs. Because he’s my rock and I wouldn’t have made it through the past two weeks without him.

Investigating | Sensory Processing Disorder. Little man just started Occupational Therapy while we wait on the list for Kennedy Kreiger for an ASD evaluation. The OT – though still working on a thorough assessment of motor skills, etc.., mentioned vestibular sensory processing disorder as well as low muscle tone. So…we’re currently researching all the implications of that on little man and prepping him for kindergarten.

Following | Lemon Lime Adventures and Inspired Tree House – they both have amazing resources re: SPD that I’ve really enjoyed reading. Them and I’ve found a bunch of fantastic mama bloggers in my search for influencers for a campaign at work – I adore finding fellow working mom lifestyle bloggers 🙂

Currently | October

Happy October friends! After a whirlwind week at the Inbound Marketing Conference, I’m back and ready to share some fun things 🙂 But first, it’s time for the October Currently linkup with Anne and her cohost, this month Dana from Something Good! Join us the first Wednesday of every month to see what we’re currently up to!

Styling | Mule shoes. Seriously. I saw these at Nordstrom, but they’re a touch out of my budget right now, so I got a more budget-friendly pair from Target recently and they’re friggin’ amazing. Seriously, these shoes are on trend, and if you don’t have a pair yet? Get some.

Saving | Money. Our budget has been super tight thanks to a tuition increase at daycare last month, so I’ve been cutting back on all the shopping and selling all the things on poshmark. We have a few necessities we need to pick up this month such as new sneakers for the little man, but other than that, we’ve been trying to cut back on all spending.

Searching | For ways to get vegetables into little man’s diet. Zucchini banana bread, smoothies, egg muffins, chocolate banana muffins… you name it, we’re going to try it. Seriously, if anyone has any suggestions how to get a kid who lives off yogurt, chicken nuggets, mac and cheese and apple sauce… you know.. the things that most 4 year olds enjoy but shouldn’t live solely off of.

Picking | pumpkins this weekend! We go to Y Worry Farm in Davidsonville and this weekend is the Anne Arundel County Agricultural Day with a petting zoo, a corn maze, games and they have a really great pumpkin patch, we’ve been going the past few years so it’s a fun tradition for us.

Making | All the recipes from my Body Back meal plan. I just started round 2 of transformation session last week – this weekend, I’m making a turkey chili, I also made some delicious sausage, broccoli egg cups for breakfasts this week. Also, I’ll be making some zucchini bread in hopes of sneaking veggies into little man’s diet.

Currently | September

How is it September already?! I say that every month but I’m serious – I feel like it was just barely June. Alas, the first Wednesday of the month means it’s time for the Currently Link up with Anne and Lowanda, her co-host for September!

september currently

Celebrating | 8 years! Hubs and I have our 8 year wedding anniversary next week and what a journey it’s been! Currently, we don’t REALLY have any plans, money is a bit tight for us as Hubs continues his post-MBA job search, so we may just do a small day trip as a family this weekend (pending Little Man’s stomach bug we’ve been fighting since Monday) and then later this month enjoy a date night when they have parents night out at daycare ($25 for four hours?! Absolutely!!).

Watching | The Bold Type. It’s a bit cheesy and I don’t think I’m the target audience but I’m a sucker for shows like that (makes sense that Devil Wears Prada is one of my all time favorite movies.) and given that Cosmo was my reading material of choice back in my 20’s, this is like living a previous dream in television format. Seriously worth a watch.

Welcoming | Fall. It was fall like weather this past weekend in CT and I am SO ready for all of the pumpkin-y, apple-y things. And boots, scarves and cozy sweaters (aka the ADORABLE tops I picked up during the Nordstrom sale.)

Preparing | for the INBOUND conference in Boston later this month. Travel and hotel booked. It happens the week of my next Body Back Transformation session so at least it’s week 1 and not week 5. I’ll be fitting in workouts, a run, and limiting my booze in take although that’s sometimes inevitable at events like this. The most fun part of prep? Prepping my conference wardrobe. September in Boston is my favorite time of year!

Photographing | Nothing lately – I’ve been in a bit of a slump but I want to get back into it – I’ve been trying to be more regular on Instagram, but alas, one day is great and then I don’t post again for two more days. Whoops?

Currently | August

How are we already in August??? Seriously? Where has time gone?!

Anyhow, first Wednesday of the month means it’s time for the Currently Linkup with Anne and her co-host to share what we’re currently up to!

snacking (on) | All of the body back snacks. My favorites? Apple slices and peanut butter (i’m a big fan of the Mott’s pre-sliced organic apples because there is nothing I loathe more than slicing apples). Kudos to me for sticking to my strawberry/cream cheese and toast afternoon snack the other day instead of indulging in left over office cake.

anticipating | “Vacation.” I’ve said repeatedly that going to Connecticut to see family isn’t always a vacation for me – vacation this year was our Disney trip and it was delightful. But since our budget is tight and we couldn’t pull off our Delaware beach weekend for Labor Day, we’re considering a weekend up north and making a day trip to Naragasett in Rhode Island, and obviously tracking down all the fun things with little man because there are many fantastic parks up there.

borrowing | so many library books. My digital hold list is maxed out and I’m plowing through books faster than a dump truck in a snow storm. Recently finished Small Admissions, currently reading The Light We Lost and Three Wishes by Liane Moriarty (because I love a good Lianne Moriarty book! I started this when I was waiting for some books to come up from my hold list), next up: Every Wild Heart by Meg Donohue.

admiring | All of my fellow Body Back mamas. Seriously, these women kick some serious butt. This program is no joke and these mamas are driven, motivating and just fantastic to spend two hours a week with. I’m in some serious admiration of these fantastic women.

purchasing | a new curling iron. After my stylist curled my hair so fantastically, I’m really trying to learn how to do that ish on my own…so I’m on the prowl. We’ll disregard my fun finds from the Nordstrom sale 😉

Happy Wednesday friends!

I hope you all had a fantastic holiday weekend, it’s the first Wednesday of the month which means it’s time for the currently link up with Anne and Stephanie from Wife, Mommy, Me. Join the linkup on the first Wednesday of each month to share what you’re currently up to!

documenting | my eating habits. Thanks to my Body Back class, we write down our food, and it’s really held me accountable to what I’m putting in my mouth – and making sure that I’m properly fueling myself. Because my food journal gets checked out twice per week, it’s that extra accountability that I think I’ve needed.

accomplishing | Lots of workouts. I started training for the Annapolis Ten Miler at the end of August, plus with the HIIT classes from Body Back, I’ve been feeling super accomplished. The only thing left to do is get my bike out and get to some more spin classes to be ready for Iron Girl (a week before the Annapolis 10 Miler) as I’m the bike portion of a relay team!

enjoying | Quality family time. We really enjoyed the weekend – had some quality family time on Saturday at Port Discovery in Baltimore and then the pool Saturday evening, and then Sunday with friends at a local splash pad. I’m a huge fan of summer and though we didn’t make it to the beach this weekend, the family time with my boys was on. point.

reading | Rich People Problems by Kevin Kwan. His first two books (Crazy Rich Asians and China Rich Girlfriend) are hilarious and this continues the story. I have about a week to finish it off before I lose my digital download but so far it’s pretty good.

spending | I’m actually trying to limit my spending on clothing until after Body Back is done in August but I do need a new pair of white jeans so I’m looking to replace those (sooner than later! They’re a summer staple for me!).

Currently | April

Happy April friends! It’s the first Wednesday of the month so it’s time again to share what’s currently going on!

Accomplishing | garden planning. Everything is mostly planned out – this year i’;m going to add some marigolds, we’re planting some Hops on the side of the house, and i’m going to move my herbs to a herb garden on the porch for easy access. I’ll be getting most of my garden ready for planting this weekend and picking up supplies 🙂 Really can’t wait for fresh veggies again!

Feeling | frazzled. April is a crazy month for us – I have a work trip to Texas, we have family visiting two weekends, and hubs is gone for 4 days for drill weekend this weekend. Not to mention, it’s busy season for junior league with four upcoming days for placement interviews, just super busy, busy, busy.

Needing | more hours in the day. Always. There’s just never enough time for all of the things I need/want to do and I always feel like I’m behind on everything, if I’m not behind then I’m

Practicing | yoga. I need the stretching for one. But, taking an hour for myself on the mat has been super beneficial. I recently started the 3 week yoga retreat as a way to get myself back into it – I have some travel coming up and hubs is gone so I know I won’t always be able to make it into a studio but this I can take on the go with me so I make sure I can still fit in my “me-time” that I value.

Pinning | All of the spring outfits. Who else is inspired to break out the spring wardrobe? I’m trying to figure out what pieces I’m missing for the spring going into summer (which we all know is right around the corner here in Maryland!)
