So week one of ten is done. I survived. Many thanks to Liz for hanging out with me yesterday and also many thanks to myself for getting my arse out of bed to get a run in yesterday AM.
I had planned to run 6 miles but cut it down to 4 because I didn’t feel like running to Eastport.
I forgot that this weekend was the start of the Annapolis International Boat Show. Pedestrians…and lots of traffic = no place for running. So I cut it short, I had parked at Naval Bagel, off Taylor Ave and ran down King George, past the Naval Academy when all hell broke loose and I ran into massive amounts of people.
So, I cut up Duke of Gloucester Street, down West Street, over to Rowe Blvd, back over to College Ave, then over to King George and back down Taylor Ave. I would have gone down Ridgely but I didn’t want to jaywalk. So it was just about 4 miles ran in 50 mins or so. I started out with 10:30 miles and slowed down A LOT. But, the key is that I ran. So yay! Go me!
After, I picked Liz up, we met up with Alana and her beau to go to Rams Head, then we headed over to the Navy Tailgate to meet up with some gals from Junior League to pass off some tickets.
We had some pretty awesome seats for the game – thanks to a LivingSocial deal Alana and I had gotten in on a while ago.
Too bad they lost. Horribly. Like 63-35 awful. It was 32-7 at the half so after the half time show we hightailed it back down to Main Street and hung out at Castlebay.
Alana and her beau headed back to DC and Liz and I headed further downtown to Federal House where we hung out, met some locals and when some Midshipman was awed by the fact that we knew all the words to “Shoop” by Salt n Pepa (hello we were in FOURTH grade when that song came out) we got a lil spooked – homeboy was barely born when that song came out. Isn’t that scary? It’s like an oldie now!
So we headed back up to Castlebay. Enjoyed the scenery and headed home around last call. I don’t even remember the last time I stayed out til last call.
Every weekend will NOT be like this one. Before Liz headed off to the Eastern Shore with Patrick her beloved husband, we hit up Naval Bagel for breakfast. I was going to fit in a workout today but instead, I ran some errands, started some more projects around the house. I have a couple more things to finish before bed, but I feel…this weekend was good. I survived.
Nine more weekends to go.
