Sidewalk Skirt Casual

Monday was a pseudo-casual Monday since it was a half-day before the Tuesday holiday. Needless to say, it was a perfect opportunity to bust out one of my favorite skirts. This is a little more casual than I usually go for a non-friday, but like I said, half day and half the office was off for the day so why not?

[skirt (on sale!)  | Tee | Necklace | Sandals (old, similar)]

I love the sidewalk skirt for its casual dress up and dress down look. One thing I should note about my style is that when I find something I love, I tend to buy it in multiples. For instance, I have about six of these skirts – three for summer, and three for fall/winter. Same with the sidewalk dress from JCrew – I have it in five colors.

….

Whoops?

I digress, dress up with a pair of heels or dress down with sandals and a tee like I did- it’s a super versatile skirt for any weekend or business casual environment during any season 🙂

Do you have an item that you love and buy in multiples???

What I Wore: Festive Copper

How has it been nearly a month since my last blog post? I have half a dozen drafts sitting in my backlog but no time/energy to wrap them up and schedule them. Maybe I’m over thinking this blogging thing but some of my favorite bloggers have such beautiful photos and images whereas I’m in selfie-city. Somedays I feel like such an amateur. Either way, setting the bar low for myself. Blog one time per week. Two would be fantastic, three would be a dream. Let’s see if I can get my act together!

I know JCrew has gotten some crap lately regarding their quality and that , but I got a beautiful Tippi sweater on a black Friday sale and I’ve gotta say, I’m in love and want at least ten more in different colors.

In other news, this weekend we’re going to be in full cooking baking, gift wrapping, holiday movie watching mode. Shopping is ALMOST done and I am READY for Christmas morning with my two favorite people. Cue “matching” pjs, mimosas, a festive brunch and all of the Christmas movies with Little man. It’s going to be a fun day 🙂

Tell me about your favorite parts of the holiday season! Any great finds that you’ve found through the Holiday Shopping season?

OOTD: Gingham and Camel

When you’re stuck in a blogging rut my friends, find an OOTD post that you’ve been meaning to post for 3 weeks but haven’t taken the time to write up. Voila! Insta-blog! AMIRITE?

Anyhooo, One of my favorite fall looks is gingham and/or plaid. Put it together with navy and camel – two neutral staples in my closet and you’ve got a winning combo! Usually, Friday’s are casual days, but earlier this month a business meeting up near Philly had me dressed up during a normally, dress down day.

{shirt – J.Crew Factory | Pants – J.Crew Factory | Shoes – J.Crew (consigned), Similar | Cardigan – JCrew Factory, Old; Similar | Necklace – Loft Factory, old; Similar}

And y’all…those shoes. What I call my power shoes because leopard heels? Rawr. Those are JCrew heels that I found on consignment for $20. There is nothing I love more than a fantastic deal – which is why I’ve been loving Poshmark and Amazon lately for shopping. And those pants? Six months ago were too tight. Now? They’re too loose. #winning.

What’s your favorite look that leaves you feeling confident?

Friday Fives: Navy Love

My love of all things navy has gone to new levels over the past few years. Back in college, I had a problem with white tops – my gal pals had an intervention at one point because I think i had like 15 white tops some of similar styles (white polo shirts. White ruffly tank tops. White tube tops. What can I say, I loved them all.). I was finally told (politely – I had great friends) “no more white tops HB.”

Nowadays, I prefer navy. My favorite designers/brands carry it always (JCrew, Loft, Ann Taylor, Lilly, etc…) It doesn’t show dirt from grubby toddler hands as much, or dirty looking sweat stains like white shirts do (I know I’m not the only one that has that problem – despite using the strongest deodorant I can). Navy tops are just classic looking. And, depending on the style, can be dressed up or down and worn in just about any season. Navy and white pants in the summer. Navy sweaters in the fall. Navy and black in the winter. That’s right. I went there. Navy and black.

So happy Friday my friends (and happy birth month to me!), not only did I write twice in one week (I can haz blogging goals?!), but you too can lust over some beautiful navy tops that are spring appropriate (and possibly summer and fall! Because…all season right?!)

What I wore: Girls Night Out

Tuesday night I had a lady date to celebrate a pal’s birthday. I don’t usually stay in work clothes for a night out unless it’s a work straight to happy hour type thing, usually I’m all about comfort – give me ponte pants/leggings or give me death but the other night was different.

But I was really digging this outfit. I loved the simplicity of it and kind of wanted to show it off. Also – there was a rush to get home, get E settled and head out to meet my pal – the desire to get out the door was stronger than the desire to change my clothes and try on six different outfits which I knew I would inevitably do.

Sorry for the serious lack of posts – the struggle between training well for a race, being a FT Working parent and the need for solo time to decompress is a fickle balance and one that, a year and a half after going back to work, I’m still working to figure out. I do love these easy what I wore type posts though – my issue is I never remember to take a picture until I’m home or changing into my running clothes. No bueno!

That all being said – stay tuned for some fun ideas I have in the works. And as always… find me on twitter, facebook, and instagram. I’m still relatively active most days!

What I Wore: Camel and Stripes

I’m lusting for fall weather that I know is right around the corner. So the other day when I saw morning temperatures were only in the 60’s, I grabbed the latest cardigan I picked up on our most recent outlet jaunt.

I had happy hour plans that night so I wanted to be sure I would be comfortable. That was the great thing about this outfit – it totally took me from office to happy hour without much effort. The sweater, tank combo was perfect for casual Friday and the tank, necklace, sandal combo was great for casual happy hour at Greene Turtle.

Another plus? I can totally make this a more business casual outfit by trading out the jeans for black pants or a pencil skirt. Win!

Fashionable Friday

So i don’t often do “style” posts – read…by often I mean never. But I’ve been following so many fashion bloggers lately trying to get some inspiration for my fall “style” that I’m going to try to throw my hat in the ring to do the every-so-often style post. Mind you, I will not be joining the ranks of fashion/style blogger extraordinaire. Lately, my status as blogger in general has been wavering. BUT I’m trying my friends. I’m trying. I promise.

Anyhow! So here’s this week’s attempt at a “What I wore” post….
