Weekly Workouts & Another #tripnorth

Another weekend, another #tripnorth.

This trip was planned, not spontaneous like last weekend when I popped up to see my Papa before his triple bypass surgery.

Hubs had drill this weekend and was originally supposed to be in Florida for four days, but instead had a three day drill based at home. So, I made plans to go up to CT for a baptism, but we also celebrated my brother-in-law’s birthday in Stamford and had a nice visit with my sister in law who came out from LA.

Saturday we went to Stamford and had lunch at Cask Republic which was AMAZING. The menu constantly changes but I highly recommend the mussles, the pesto mac & cheese, the meatballs and the fries. I enjoyed an Allagash White and a Clown Shoes Clementine Witbier which was as amazing as it sounds.

Sunday was the baptism at St. Patricks in Manhattan which was beautiful. We then had a Chinese luncheon at Joes Shanghai on 56th between 5th and 6th – highly recommend! Ethan loved everything and was a super trooper – both days the events happened during his afternoon nap so

It was quite fun, excepting the ear infection Ethan caught that landed us in Urgent Care on Saturday AM after a very sleepless night on Friday night. We’re better now, but I’m dealing with a cold/allergies that’s on the brink of a sinus infection. Color me miserable.

So last weeks workouts ended up okay. I packed my running clothes in hopes of getting a run in on the treadmill but that didn’t happen this weekend given our packed schedule and my feeling like ick half the weekend.

I did fit in a walk Tuesday morning for 5.5 miles and Thursday I fit in a 4.25 mile walk and a Pure Barre class. Slackerville, I know, but it was a rough week for the most part.

This week…

Tuesday – walk
Wednesday – spinning or Pure Barre
Thursday – walk or run
Friday – Pure Barre
– Run 4 miles
Sunday – Pure Barre

Goal mileage: 15 miles

Stay tuned for my Cherry Blossom Ten Miler training plan later this week!

Fitmama Reviews: Pure Barre Annapolis

There’s a new studio in town folks. Color me excited!

I don’t remember when I found out Annapolis was getting a Pure Barre studio. But ever since then, I’ve been eager to get back to the barre.

Seriously – I loved Barre at Evolutions but because I was only paying for a partial membership (off peak hours). Unfortunately,  the classes often filled up before I could sign up and the times were a bit inconvenient to my schedule. So I started stroller striding instead and that got me social and out of the ah-hem Real Housewives of Annapolis vibe I was getting from my fellow Barre mates.

So when I heard Pure Barre was coming to town, I was pretty pumped. Come to find out it’s the first Pure Barre studio in Maryland, thanks for showing Annapolis some love ladies! It seems that Baltimore or Bethesda get all the fitness love but this time? Nope. Naptown it is!

Pure Barre annapolis

Friday night I took my first class. I was solo in the class, but the instructor was awesome – Gabrielle was super great at instructing, motivating and yet not being awkward because it was just me. Sometimes I find when instructors aren’t expecting it to be a one person class, they can be awkward, Gabrielle was none of this.

I went again Monday morning to check it out and talk with Anne and Susan the two owners.

A few fun facts about Pure Barre Annapolis…

Pure Barre Annapolis is the first Pure Barre in Maryland. They chose Annapolis because it’s a super health conscious community, and they knew it would be receptive to it. #Truth. I love Pure Barre.

Pure Barre is about lengthening and defining muscles. They work to “fatigue” the muscles or what they call “embracing the shake.” It’s what I call, hurting so good.

You’ll feel a difference after ten classes. You’ll be stronger and you’ll start seeing the results. I’ll be up to 3 classes tomorrow afternoon. I’ll let you know what I see after ten 😉

Anne and Susan met while working at lululemon back when lulu first came to Annapolis – which is simply awesome. I love the lululemon community here in Annapolis and I love the women and instructors I’ve met through the community.

Currently, they have four amazing instructors, and three “barre-tenders” who help out at the front desk. They’re nurturing this studio first and foremost while also considering the future and where they can take Pure Barre next. I can’t wait to find out!

One thing that I’m most impressed by from these women is how health conscious they are, but also how real they are. They’re both moms and know from experience how tough it is to get back in shape after baby. Pure Barre worked for both of them, they both have fitness backgrounds, and upon speaking with them both they emphasized that Pure Barre is a great complimentary workout – especially to runners! (Hiiiii!!! ME!!!!!)

I’ve signed up for one month at Pure Barre, so I’ll be taking a lot of classes between now and early December when it expires and I’m excited to share the results at the end of this first month.

If you’re in Annapolis (or Baltimore! Or any of the surrounding areas!) and want to join me for a class, please let me know!

{Check out how I got into Barre over the summer at a local gym as I got back into shape after baby…}

{disclosure: i was not compensated in any way for this review, all opinions here are my own. Just me sharing my love of an awesome workout}
