It’s our first summer with baby and while last summer was largely in two parts – before pregnancy (read: triathlon training) and pregnancy. Where I slept a lot and couldn’t enjoy delicious orange crushes and wine which are two summery staples in my book (wine + cheese at a beautiful vineyard or an orange crush dockside? Both SCREAM Annapolis summer to me)
Most of these are baby friendly.
We make an annual trip to the Jersey Shore – usually a day trip, we’ll often stay with a friend who lives up there, though we may just drive home if we go this year. But I’d love to go back, mostly to support the economy up there since they need it and the past few summers we’ve had so much fun with pals up there.
I really want to do a day trip to Rehoboth – another thing we do at least once each year. These two will happen later in the summer, possibly even in September once baby is a little bit older. (I can’t believe by September he’ll be 6 months old, it seems like it’s just around the corner).
My big thing is going to Vermont to visit my family. It’s super important to me that baby meet my Nana and Papa (my paternal grandparents) and my grandmother (maternal). As my Nana gets older, and the alzheimers gets worse, I fear her not remembering me at all. She was so important to me growing up that I can’t imagine her not meeting Baby at least once. Not to mention cousins, my mom and sister and my best friend from high school.
I’ve been trying to shop locally more and more. A couple weekends ago we went to a farmers market down on City Dock and I know there are a couple of other ones so I’d like to visit another farmers market in Annapolis (at least) and make a new recipe with my findings.
In two weeks, after a nearly 2 year hiatus, my book club will be reuniting with new members! Yay! Can we keep it up? Like have a real book club, where we brunch and chat about good books that we all actually read? Here’s hoping!
We won’t be hiking Old Rag again any time soon, but there is some nice hiking along the Chesapeake that we can take baby on – especially over on the Eastern Shore and even further north along the Susquehanna that would be a nice afternoon activity.
I want to race again. Zooma just reignited my bug, and I have an itch. I think my next race is going to be the Women’s Distance Festival 5k in July depending on if Adam is around (he may be away for his 2 week AT).
One of my favorite parts of summer is enjoying the outdoors – specifically a nice meal. Preferably grilled. I want to make it a point to eat outside more (though we need to find a new home for our bikes so we can set up our chairs and move baby’s bouncy chair (or bumbo once he’s old enough!) out there to enjoy dinner or even breakfast.
Not listed? Get some Vitamin D! I want to take some time pool side – have hubs hang with baby while I take nap time to read by the pool? Sounds delightful to me!
