Y’all, this COVID-19 ish just got real.
Monday, my job was eliminated. Our company took a huge hit in revenue, so while it was surprising, it wasn’t at the same time.
Man, did it sting. I’ve spent the past week licking wounds, and figuring out with hubs how we’ll make it through.
The last time I lost a job was on my honeymoon. That’s a funny story. But if you’re going to lose your job, it should definitely be on a catamaran in the Caribbean with an open bar. Though really, the moral of that story is don’t answer your phone on a catamaran in the Caribbean.
So, aside from taking the time to make sure my 7-year-old doesn’t rot his brain playing too much Minecraft and keeping my house the way I want it to be, this is a great opportunity for me to revisit goals.
Goals of dusting off my little corner of the internet, maybe picking up a freelance gig or two. Or, find a way to monetize this longtime habit that once DID give me a li’l play money, and you know…educating my child while he’s out of school.
Short Term Goals
- Take a course to update my chops on blogging
- Start an email newsletter
- Keep running (I’m in the midst of my 37-day birthday run streak. I’ve missed two days but in general, I’ve stuck with at least a mile of running or walking each day.)
- Write again regularly
- Get up some passive income – I’m thinking a 5k training plan with virtual coaching, an ebook, or some sort of course that takes into account my digital marketing background with my love of small businesses. That’s maybe a little longer term though.
- Maybe start a podcast?
How are you all faring through the COVID-19 catastrophe? Tell me something good!
